Moving Castles
In August 2021, gvn and arb published "Modular and Portable Multiplayer Miniverses". It names a kind of online place: the Moving Castle, a shared space a community lives in and carries with it from platform to platform. The name comes from Howl's Moving Castle, whose rooms hold together because of the people inside them.
The essay's worry is the "dark forest": private groups and servers that pull away from the public internet and turn inward. It argues for castles that stay connected, with doors to the outside world, governed by the people inside them, and built to move.

The four principles
- Collective. Shared, transparent rules.
- Portable. It can move without losing what it is.
- Modular. Built from parts others can reuse.
- Interoperable. It can meet and trade with other castles.
SEEKER NET as a castle
The game's math lives in a public contract: once revealed, not even the owner can change the seed, the charges or the rules. Every seeker's state is readable by anyone, so tools like this monitor can be built from the outside. The seekers are the rooms. Each one's charge is shaped by what every other seeker does, so nothing about it is single-player.
